Hello all;
The GSE Team has been very busy in Bareilly. We have gone to
almost too many Rotary Meetings and fellowships to count, all
of them very memorable. The Rotary presence here is huge, with
28 clubs in this relatively small town. They sponsor many
terrific projects, including a clinic for polio victims and
amputees, a cancer clinic, an eye clinic for impoverished
people, a school for handicapped children, and of course the
polio booths.
The next polio NID is March 3 all over India. We will leave
tomorrow for Kanpur, where hopefully we will have a day to
rest.
Yours in Rotary
Service,

| Hello everyone,
The
GSE has arrived at it's final stop before returning to the U.S. We are
now in Aligarh, UP, and were warmly welcomed by the Rotary Club here
this afternoon, and were treated to a nice reception at the home of
Ashok Saxena, District Governor for 3110 in 2006/2007.
Tomorrow we will visit some sites, and the next morning leave for Deli
and the airport after breakfast. We have had an amazing visit with the
many Rotary Clubs of District 3110. Our itinerary has included the
following:
The 3110 District
Conference at Jim Corbett Park.
Nanital for one night (where I got to visit a polio booth, as
it was the NID)
Rampur for one night.
Bareilly for 4 nights, where we visited many Rotary Clubs and
Rotary Projects. We got to attend some vocational visits
also in Bareilly.
Passed through Shahjahanpur, where we had lunch with a Rotary
Club.
Kannauj for tea and a visit to a perfume factory and a school.
Kanpur. We rested and visited Rotary Clubs and Rotary
projects for 5 nights.
Jhansi to spend a night and visit a temple and 500 year-old
fort.
Agra, where we spent 3 nights and were able to see the Taj
Mahal at dawn!
Mathura, the birthplace of the god Krishna
Varindavan and Hathras
Now in Aligarh. Whew! |
We have traveled over 2000 kilometers in our car, with our trusty driver
Ramesh, who has taken such good care of us daily. He has not even
complained when he had to take all our heavy luggage on and off the car
each day for our home stays. As you can imagine, our luggage has swelled
since our arrival from all the wonderful gifts presented to us by the
Rotary Clubs we have visited. The home stays have really been the best
part of our visit here, in my opinion, as we have go t ten to know our
hosts and their families very well in a very short time, and feel like
we have new, adopted, family members.
Yours in Rotary
Service,
Linda Taylor
